hello. my name is boey.

boey, born in August, 1987 in the town of Sungai Lalang, Kedah- a smaller than small town. boey's interest in drawing began at an early age and by the time he was in primary school he knew he wanted to be a designer. He studied advertising to realize that what really he wanted to do was to draw!

"I’m a self-taught graphic designer living in Petaling Jaya. I have a keen interest in everything to do with branding, graphic design and advertising - would probably call it an obsession. My interests include spending time with my family, good food, good film, good friends, bad laptop, music and colours that would make your eyes bleed.

Whether I’m working with friends, an agency, or on my own, coming up with new ideas and experiences never gets old. Creative thinking and problem-solving is what keeps me going.

All the amazing work out there inspires me to try new things. So far for now my design style is ambiguous at best. This could change, but for now I’m having fun experimenting.

Art'umn - The Award Winning Idea

Straight to the point, I would like to get this opportunity to share my wonderful experience at USM (Universiti Sains Malaysia) with you all! First of all, I would like to intro what was happen to me ADWAVE, the acronym for Award Winning Advertisement Exhibition is an competitions to provide an avenue for the students to unleash creative and fresh talents. It functions as a hub for students from all local higher institutions to exchange ideas.

So, in order to grasp this opportunity, I have take part in Sloggi (a famous lingerie brand under Triumph) Advertising Campaign Plan Competition organized by ADWAVE and sponsored by Sloggi. The winner(myself) of the ADWAVE will get their brainchild being executed in the real-world market besides winning cash prize of RM6,000(wow~)!

Let me show you the winning Idea!

Based on the coming new series of lingerie which introduce by Sloggi, we have been invited to create a creative campaign in building the products’ awareness among the public in the coming months. There are three products which including the Antique, Pristine and Rumba, and these three products had been categorized as the Sloggi Pure Bodywear Autumn’08. To create a creative campaign for the Sloggi Pure Bodywear Autumn ’08 launching in this September of 2008, I have come out a concept.

In my concept, “Sloggi” is not only a lingerie brand, but it is more than that. When it wears by the women, it would become a body art. It is a combination of body language plus “Sloggi” lingerie. Therefore, we have come out an idea of combine the Sloggi Pure Bodywear Autumn ’08 with Art. The reason why we have the concept of linking the art culture with “Sloggi” is because art can express the human feelings as well as “Sloggi” products which could bring out the different feelings and expressions of the women who wearing the different “Sloggi” products.

Art’umn - as the campaign theme from the propose theme showing at the above. The word “Art’tumn” is combination of “art” and “autumn”. The reason why we want to name it as “Art’tumn” is because we want to carry out the meaning of art in autumn, while “Sloggi” launching the autumn series products soon. We want to carry out the message of, “Sloggi” lingerie is not only viewed as a normal brassiere or lingerie, but it is view as a work of art. We want to bring out a feeling of warmness and artistic look of the lingerie, and also make it as the trendy fashion to the women.

Due to my team has been selected as 1 of the finalist for this competition, my team has been invite to USM, Penang to do a presentation and at the same time to attend the launching day. We went to Penang on last Friday (14th March) and stayed 2 nights over there..all the expenses were borne by ourselves. During the Launching Day of Adwave 08', all the finalists met together as well as other finalists from various Uni or colleges. I was nervous+panic+tremble when seeing quite a number (around 1000+) of audiences attended the launching day and we are the first team to present on the stage.
